Sleepy Whispers

On Li Wen's first day in Xihe, Chi Shiyu stood on the stairs, looked down at her, and said two things.

“The second floor is my space. Don't come up unless you have a reason.”

“I don't mind you staying here, but I hope we can keep out of each other's way and avoid unnecessary trouble.”

Li Wen kept his words in mind.

But one day, when her fever wouldn't break and she was about to order food delivery, someone grabbed her wrist and pinned her against the door.

“Are you delirious with fever, or have you lost your memory?” Chi Shiyu stared at her reddened eyes, his brows knitted together. “Is my WeChat just for show? Can't you see the medicine cabinet in the stairwell?”

When Li Wen met Chi Shiyu again years later, she didn't recognize him at first. Only when the man took off his mask did she let out a quiet gasp.

He wore camouflage, his figure cool and aloof. When their eyes met, he merely gave her a faint nod, then turned to organize the rescue operation.

He acted like they had never known each other.

But later, in the dim, cramped car, her waist pressed against the steering wheel, he was only inches away.

The man lowered his gaze, his fingertip tracing her slightly parted lips. His voice gave away nothing.

“Did he kiss you like this too?”
