In the final of the Glory Season 9 Challenge Tournament, Excellent Era gets off to a bad start, its decline is on full display, it keeps making terrible calls, and it struggles desperately at death’s door...
Let’s congratulate Team Happy on winning the Challenge Tournament!
To squeeze every last bit of value out of her, the manager tells Song Shu and her teammates to sell some of their blood sugar. Before she can even offer words of comfort, she learns that Sun Xiang has transferred to two-time champion Team Samsara, and Xiao Shiqin has returned to his old team, Thunderclap.
Great. We all have a bright future.
So she turns around and signs a one-year contract extension, then goes live on Bilibili promptly at nine that night.
Well, she extended her livestreaming contract.
Livestream title: Three years at Tyranny, three years at Tiny Herb, one year at Excellent Era: the blood, sweat, and tears of a big-company employee.
That afternoon, after she harshly criticized the match and stirred up trouble: “If they told you to make that call, would you do it? You’d have to do it even if it killed you.”
“Be good and sleep in the venue tonight. Don’t go outside. Being obscure is a form of protection, but being bad at the game isn’t.”
“Is there really nobody who wants to roast Lord Grim?”
In the middle of the night, she calls her channel members together to gang up on Ye Xiu: “Come on, everyone, get him! He’s the one who forced me to retire.”
Less than six months into streaming, Excellent Era is delightedly shut down. Song Shu quickly starts a livestream selfie-style on her phone and opens with: “Tao Xuan, give me my severance pay!”
She chases every trend she can and picks fights with people she shouldn’t. If someone throws themselves at her, she accepts, then plays dumb.
Before she knows it, she’s become a top-tier star streamer, with several times as many followers as she had when she was a pro. And several times as many haters, too.
Song Shu makes money as she should, and treats her haters with kindness: “If you insult the streamer, the streamer will give you her luck in Glory. But I’m keeping the championships.”
One day, the guy who forced her to retire sends her a paid message in her livestream: “Xiao Shu, do you still want to compete?”
