Can an Illiterate Octopus Still Marry a Rich, Beautiful Wife?

Ming Shu is the second young master of the wealthy Ming family, picked up from the slums.

With an older brother set to inherit the family fortune and a younger brother doted on by his stepmother, the only meaning left in his life is to marry for political convenience.

But he doesn't care.

Men are easy. A crook of his finger and they'll be his dogs.

That is, until he meets Lu Ji, who can't understand a word he's saying.

When Ming Shu says something offhand, Lu Ji takes it to heart. When Ming Shu tells him to get lost, the man holds him tight in his arms.

Lu Ji is a mutated octopus.

An illiterate octopus who never received nine years of compulsory education and doesn't know his ABCs, he survives each day by chewing on a couple of his own tentacles.

The Special Threat Bureau asks him to be its leader. He waves them off, then steps outside and runs into his darling wife.

His wife is staring blankly at a street vendor's grilled octopus skewers.

Grilled octopus skewers? He has some too.

Lu Ji cuts off one of his tentacles and offers it to Mingshu.

Ming Shu is stunned. After a while, he thanks him, his eyes curving into a beautiful smile.

No octopus could withstand that. Lu Ji falls for him on the spot.

But then he realizes:

His wife's clothes bear designer labels that an illiterate man can't read.

The delicacies his wife eats every day are beyond an octopus's budget.

The poems his wife recites in his ear are sweet nothings a man can't understand.
