Synopsis
Fake sweet-and-innocent, truly unhinged, theatrical giver x Arrogant, heartless, powerful receiver, a young master of the ruling class
(All main characters are adults!)
[One-on-one romance, beautiful giver and powerful receiver, love and hate, tragic romance]
The autumn his parents died, Wen Huai became someone all his relatives avoided. It was only because of something his cousin said that his aunt and uncle finally took him in.
His cousin was clever, beautiful, and deeply committed to justice. She was also the top student at Sheng Yinglin Academy. She deserved every bit of love and praise.
But one afternoon, she fell from the rooftop and became a vegetable, with no sign of ever waking up.
Wen Huai was sure the culprit who had driven his cousin to the brink was among the K5.
The K5 were the five people at the very top of Sheng Yinglin Academy’s hierarchy. Their families commanded immeasurable wealth and power. Trying to take them on was like an ant trying to shake an elephant.
Everyone around him urged them to stop digging into the matter. Taking the compensation money and disappearing without a trace was the best choice.
But his cousin, the only person in the world who had ever shown him familial affection, had been reduced to this. How could he just let it go?
Wen Huai decided to get revenge in his own way.
He transferred to Sheng Yinglin Academy as a special-admissions student and became known among his classmates as “the student council’s most loyal dog.” His handsome face always wore a perfectly measured smile. He deftly navigated the student council’s pampered rich kids, who were impossible to please. Even though the council didn’t accept special-admissions students, he managed to secure a place there and even gained access to the lofty K5.
Everything seemed to be going well, until Jin Linchuan, the most powerful member of the K5, frowned at him in front of everyone.
“Expel him from the student council.”
There was no reason. He simply disliked Wen Huai. With just that offhand remark, all of Wen Huai’s efforts came to nothing, and he became someone anyone at Sheng Yinglin Academy could bully.
Wen Huai had no intention of enduring it any longer.
He stormed into the student council president’s office, slammed Jin Linchuan’s perpetually haughty face against the desk, raised his phone, and smiled with chilling madness.
“Dear Senior Jin, if this dog called a special-admissions student fucks you right here and takes pictures to send to everyone at the school, what do you think they’ll think of you?”
He said it, and he did it.
“Let everyone see these pictures, or be my dog. You know what to choose, Senior Jin.”
This was his last bargaining chip, his last desperate struggle.
From the moment he was born, Jin Linchuan had stood at the very top of the world.
He was the sole heir to a powerful business empire. Every small gesture or expression of his could determine what happened to the people around him next.
His status, abilities, and looks were all top-tier. The heights others spent their whole lives trying to reach were simply his everyday life.
In Jin Linchuan’s eyes, most people in the world were insignificant ants. The only difference was whether they were bigger or smaller.
Until he met Wen Huai.
He had no idea what tricks this special-admissions student had used to secure a place on a student council rife with class discrimination, let alone to work at Jin Linchuan’s side.
Whenever that beautiful, innocent-looking face smiled at him, Jin Linchuan felt irritated.
...Was he irritated?
To be honest, Jin Linchuan had no idea what to call this unfamiliar feeling. But one thing was clear: people who got in his way should be dealt with at once.
He didn’t even need to do anything himself. All he had to do was speak, and every student at Sheng Yinglin Academy would take care of the problem for him.
What Jin Linchuan hadn’t expected was for Wen Huai to brazenly barge into his office, then do something so audacious that it was beyond his comprehension.
Afterward, Wen Huai took pictures and even threatened to use them against him.
How laughable. It might be a little troublesome, but even with the pictures, Jin Linchuan had countless ways to make sure they were never released. And Wen Huai would never be able to bear the consequences of offending someone above him.
But when it came time to act, Jin Linchuan hesitated.
This little ant was so fragile. One light squeeze and it would die, never to appear before him again.
Was that really what he wanted?
After all, it was just a stray dog that had been driven to bite him. He could take it in as a pet and keep it around for a while.
Who could have guessed that the dog’s gentle, considerate manner was all an act? In truth, it was fierce, hard to tame, and always looking for a chance to bite.
For the first time, Jin Linchuan discovered that he had an astonishing amount of patience. No matter how many times he wanted to teach Wen Huai a harsh lesson, he always stopped himself at the last moment.
He understood himself less and less.
Jin Linchuan lit a cigarette. Its ember flickered in the darkness of the room. He exhaled a cloud of smoke and looked up at Wen Huai.
“Wen Huai, why are you always so disobedient?”
Wen Huai had his back to him and didn’t respond. He stood perfectly still, as if his soul had already left his body.
Jin Linchuan suddenly laughed at himself. He stood up, and the half-smoked cigarette fell to the floor. He ground it out hard beneath his shoe.
His fist had almost landed on Wen Huai’s face just now. But when he saw those tea-colored eyes beneath their long lashes, his heart inexplicably clenched, and he lowered his hand without thinking.
He felt ridiculous, furious and making a scene over a result he had known all along. Whatever he did, Wen Huai would always see him as one of his enemies. After today, he might even become the number-one enemy.
How pointless.
Was it hate or love? Too much stood between them, and it was no longer possible to tell right from wrong.
But when he grabbed that tangled mass of hatred and pulled it apart, he found that the other end of the thread was connected to a surging love.
So this whole time, the only thing I hated was that you didn’t love me enough.
