After Dating the Film Emperor, I Stole the Show on a Variety Program

Lin Xu is the ACE of a boy band, with top-notch professional skills and an excellent sense of self-discipline.

For his first foray into film, he's paired with Yu Xingzhi, an actor famous throughout the industry for being difficult to work with.

No problem. What Lin Xu does best is keep up appearances.

Reporter: "I hear Actor Yu takes good care of you?"

Lin Xu: "He's a wonderful senior. He's taught me a lot."

Yu Xingzhi: "How come I don't know about this?"

To hone his acting skills, Lin Xu moves into Yu Xingzhi's home for round-the-clock coaching, and the paparazzi catch them in the act.

Lin Xu: "Actor Yu is very demanding. It's all for the film."

Yu Xingzhi: "If you can't act, don't say I taught you."

They're paired up on a variety show, too. Their CP fans celebrate like it's New Year.

Lin Xu: "It's for the show's entertainment value."

Yu Xingzhi: "If I'm not paired with Lin Xu, I'm not filming."

No matter what happens, Lin Xu always has an official line ready that meets idol industry standards.

Until one day, Yu Xingzhi asks him:

"Lin Xu, do you like me?"

Lin Xu falls silent for a long time.

Oh no, this one doesn't seem like it can be explained away.

Their CP grows so popular it breaks out of its niche, and the company finally can't sit still. It starts suppressing their popularity.

Eye contact: cut.

Talking: cut.

Appearing in the same frame: cut.

Fans: "Trying to hide it just makes it more obvious. They're definitely dating!"

Lin Xu: "No, that's not it..."
