"Hello, Host. I'm the new Hot-Blooded Anime Protagonist System... Wait, where's my poor little protagonist?!"
Sylas Lin.
His original name was Lin Xuanjing. He transmigrated to a world of magic three years ago and was halfway through the traditional route:
An unregarded, wretched pauper → a rare space-magic genius → winner of the cumulative individual championship at the first-year Magic Academy tournament → apprentice to a tower mage ahead of schedule.
Looking at the protagonist he'd finally managed to find, the System lit a digital cigarette and sighed, "Sorry. I'm three years late."
Under normal circumstances, as a fourth-year student, he didn't need to go back to school. He only had to continue his research under his mentor. As the mentor's sole apprentice, joining the Mage Council in the future was practically guaranteed.
Being found by the System was purely an accident.
The boy tilted his head. "Hot-blooded anime...?"
The System sounded a little guilty. "That's right. Once the anime starring you becomes a huge hit, you can make one wish. Anything you want!"
He was about to politely decline, but when he heard that, the boy curled his lips into a smile. "Okay."

The Magic Academy Boys is an isekai anime about hot-blooded competition, produced by the renowned industry studio Stormwind. However, ever since the project was announced, its release had been delayed again and again, infuriating countless eager fans.
During that time, the official account kept releasing gorgeous character profiles for the supporting cast, while keeping the protagonist's background under wraps. They didn't even provide a partial silhouette for fans to speculate over.
The audience sneered: Fine, we'll make our own content!
After all, the worldbuilding and supporting characters were already there. They could easily make up their own stories!
And so, a vast fan-created universe based on The Boys' Academy came into being. Through countless fan works, the supporting characters gradually took on widely accepted fanon personalities and shared original characters, each gaining a huge following of their own.
And then, at last, The Boys' Academy began airing.
At first, nobody had much faith in an anime that had taken five years to come out:
The fan creators had already given the supporting cast boundless possibilities, writing them into stories about magic, history, and romance. Then, out of nowhere, the protagonist appeared, a character with no audience at all. But in this huge IP, there was no room left for him!
Until
[The old thing finally aired. I'm here for the laughs. The tag says competitive sports? ...Wait, is this a sports anime?]
[Magic competitions count as competitions too...? Let's see. Huh, the male lead doesn't seem to be the hot-blooded idiot everyone predicted?]
[...This is a hot-blooded competition anime, right?]
[Why are all the opponents lining up to get beaten? Is the protagonist some kind of incubus? (stunned)]
[AAAAAH, my supporting-character fave is out of character!! My fave is supposed to be a cold, aloof badass. Who's this sweet-talking, affectionate puppy?!]
[The official anime's turned everything upside down (wipes sweat)]

News of the space-magic genius's comeback set newspapers and magazines across the continent abuzz.
A regional seed-team player and heir to the Light Knights lightly stroked his chin. "Who? That once-in-a-millennium space-magic genius? I'll meet him sometime when I have a chance."
The runner-up at last year's nationals and Saintess of the Harvest Church casually flipped through a news sheet. "Sylas? I haven't heard that name in ages. But his school never even makes it to the national tournament. Nothing to worry about."
The Empire's Third Prince and the continent's most famous bard lowered the flute from his lips. "He's really back...? No, I have to join the school team!"
The System (looking through the background): My Host doesn't have much of a foundation, and we have to build his popularity from zero. I'd better keep an eye on him... (looks up) Huh? Why are they all charging over here, shouting about being rivals and forging bonds?!
◆ An unconventional everyone-loves-him story, no romance. The protagonist is surrounded by arrows of platonic affection.
◆ Also known as The Chosen Ones Forge a Team Spirit. Half team adventure, half hot-blooded competition: a story about boys chasing their dreams.
◆ The protagonist is a special kind of genius. His power-up journey was already halfway through when he got the System. Before that, this young prodigy had made his own way entirely by himself.
