Jiang Mengyu is a mission-taker who defected with her System. To evade the pursuit of the Main God, she had no choice but to seal away her memories and enter novels, becoming all sorts of villains who never got what they wanted.
The missions to turn villains' fortunes around were easier than she expected. She just didn't know why a cannon-fodder female character who was supposed to die early in the plot always inexplicably latched onto her.
1. Scheming country girl, the real heiress × frail, calculating princess
Jiang Mengyu is a country girl who impersonates the real heiress to enter the marquis's household and claim her place. Her acting is good enough to fool the entire family, but because she constantly antagonizes the beloved fake heiress, she ultimately meets a tragic end.
After Jiang Mengyu enters the story, she turns the plot into a complete mess. The marquis's family, who should have been loving toward one another, end up at each other's throats. To deal with Jiang Mengyu, the fake heiress persuades the marquis's wife to send her to the princess's matchmaking banquet.
The princess was born with an illness, and the imperial physicians have determined that she will not live past twenty-five. The banquet is called a matchmaking event, but its real purpose is to find someone to bring her good fortune through marriage.
In the original story, the princess is merely a background character destined to be cannon fodder. She doesn't attend the banquet, and not long after it ends, she dies of her illness.
But this time, the princess, who was rumored to have been unconscious for three months, not only appears but picks Jiang Mengyu out of the crowd at first sight.
The pale, sickly woman stands beneath the corridor, her expression cool. Amid the crowd's gasps and kowtows, she lifts her eyelids and gazes at Jiang Mengyu from afar.
"I want her."
To deal with the protagonist, Jiang Mengyu agrees to marry the princess.
After their wedding, she treats the princess as nothing but a sickly woman who is about to die, and never gets close to her.
But the woman, once so dignified and reserved, acts completely differently from when they first met. She reaches out and hooks her finger around Jiang Mengyu's.
Her long hair hangs loose. Her pale, delicate lips draw close to Jiang Mengyu's wrist, and her voice is soft and lingering.
"Don't you like it?"
Jiang Mengyu looks thoughtful.
A top who starts out cold, hoping her wife will die, but later fears she really will and works hard to keep her alive × a frail, weak bottom who schemes at every turn and actively seduces her wife
2. Gloomy, sweet-faced-but-dark stepsister × her early-deceased, unhinged stepsister ghost
Jiang Mengyu is an orphan adopted by the Jiang family. She is vain and greedy, with ambitions as high as the sky. Though an adopted daughter, she acts like a rich young lady in public. She accidentally offends a group of wealthy heirs led by the protagonist, who torment and attack her under the pretext of punishment, until she eventually suffers a mental breakdown and is thrown out of the Jiang family in disgrace.
After entering the story, Jiang Mengyu crushes the protagonist in every way, driving the once-arrogant woman to the brink of a breakdown and making her question her entire life.
The mission to turn her fortunes around goes exceptionally well. The only strange thing is that Jiang Mengyu keeps finding unexplained red marks on her body.
Then one day, after losing to her yet again, the protagonist breaks down and shouts, "If Mingyan hadn't died so young, do you think you'd have ever gotten through the Jiang family's doors?"
She throws a photograph at Jiang Mengyu.
Jiang Mengyu looks down. The woman in the photo bears some resemblance to her.
She faces the camera, smiling at Jiang Mengyu with extraordinary warmth.
It is Jiang Mingyan, the Jiang family's long-dead heiress.
Jiang Mengyu thinks she may have figured out where the marks on her body are coming from.
In the dim bedroom of the old house, the chill arrives as expected.
A pair of long, cold hands touches the side of Jiang Mengyu's neck. A familiar, bone-deep cold envelops her body.
As pain stings her lips, an ethereal, icy female voice reaches Jiang Mengyu's ears.
"Don't let them touch you, and don't smile at them."
"You're mine alone."
A cold wind howls past, billowing the gauzy curtains. The next second, Jiang Mengyu suddenly opens her eyes.
"Is that so?"
She pins the blurry figure beneath her instead.
"Then what gives you the right to say that to me?"
"A timid peeping tom? Or... big sister?"
A gloomy, unhinged, sweet-faced-but-dark younger top who deliberately provokes her wife to make her appear × a possessive, obsessive ghost bottom who always wants her wife all to herself
