"Still knitting that scarf, Chi Chi?" her roommate Wang Yuqing asked.
"Mm, there's only a little left." Lin Qiuchi kept working.
"Why are you putting so much effort into it, anyway? Summer's almost here."
Lin Qiuchi paused. "It's nothing. I'm making it for a friend. He's overseas."

Three years later, Lin Qiuchi got a spot in an exchange program in New Zealand.
After much hesitation, she decided to cross the ocean and go.
But a week after she arrived, someone stopped her on the way back to her apartment.
"Does this look familiar?" Han Feng pointed to the scarf.
Lin Qiuchi pressed her lips together.
Looking at the face he'd longed for every day, Han Feng could hold back no longer and threw his arms around her.
"Were we really just friends, after everything that happened between us?" Han Feng murmured against her neck.
Lin Qiuchi's pupils trembled.
He went on, as if talking to himself. "Do you hug and kiss your friends, too?"
"The kind of kiss you can't stop once it starts."
