Synopsis
After her family fell into decline, the sickly good-for-nothing Lin Liuyue fled to France to escape her debts. She has a dark past few people know about.
Back in college, she was a lovesick girl with amazing athletic ability, no sense of her own limitations, and a fat wallet. She fell in love at first sight with Tang Zhi, a top student with gray-blue eyes, and launched a passionate pursuit, spending her time, money, and energy on him. She walked him to and from school, accompanied him to work, cooked for him, and bought him all sorts of things... After plenty of elaborate romantic gestures, she finally won his heart.
But just before she was about to take the exam to upgrade her diploma, her sweetheart turned around and submitted a signed letter reporting her to the principal and the dean.
The reason was that her father, after his business went bankrupt, had driven drunk and accidentally hit Tang Zhi's sister, Tang Ling, leaving her fighting for her life in the emergency room. Her father had also died, while her mother ran away after racking up gambling debts.
In his letter, Tang Zhi accused Lin Liuyue of repeatedly committing crimes at school under her father's name, ruining her reputation and forcing her to drop out in disgrace.
As if things weren't bad enough already, Lin Liuyue was furious!
The top student had become a model and was enjoying a little fame. She hadn't planned to get revenge, but then she remembered that Tang Zhi had abandoned her, and that he'd only gotten together with her in the first place because she looked a little like the "mom" who had abandoned him. He'd been trying to investigate her.
Now that she'd "seen the light," Lin Liuyue hammered away at her keyboard, grinding her teeth as she created three burner accounts to attack her ex-boyfriend.
She never expected that, broke and desperate for money, she'd run into the ex-boyfriend she was attacking while taking a part-time gig in an advertisement shoot.
During a break in filming, Lin Liuyue curled up in a corner, drawing mushrooms. In reality, she was using her burner account to curse Tang Zhi.
Standing behind her, Tang Zhi took advantage of their height difference to casually peek at her screen for ages. At last, he quietly tossed out a Cantonese joke: "If Big Ming raises Little Ming, then who raised Big Ming? Answer: Jau raised him, because Jau admires his great name."
Lin Liuyue, the head of his anti-fan club, was caught red-handed by the star himself. Under Tang Zhi's mix of threats and sweet talk, she decided to accept his offer to get back together and play a big game.
So, a year later, model Tang Zhi gave Lin Liuyue a Tiffany ring one night and put it on her finger. The next day, Lin Liuyue left the ring in their rented apartment. While the model was away at an event, she toyed with his feelings and ran off without looking back.
Four years later, Lin Liuyue has learned her lesson, turned over a new leaf, and decided to stay away from romance. She'll focus on taking her medicine, recovering, earning money, and working to pay off her debts.
Her ex-boyfriend from years ago has become a top-tier star and won the top prize at the Paris Film Festival, while she can barely scrape together enough for her medication in a small French town. She isn't going back to China anyway, and she'll never see him again in this lifetime.
Who could have guessed that a call from a hospital back in China would pull her right into the trap? She hurriedly borrowed money to return and visit Tang Ling. Just as she was about to slip away, Tang Zhi blocked the door and asked calmly, "What are you doing here?"
Lin Liuyue: ...
Lin Liuyue: I'm dead... But maybe, just maybe.
Her escape failed, and she was taken back to Tang Zhi's home. When she woke up, she found a Harry Winston ring inexplicably on her finger, along with a pair of handcuffs.
Lin Liuyue: ...Now I'm really dead. Haha. (That's a dry laugh, not a real one.)
A melodramatic mess with just a little bittersweetness. Rekindled love plus a classic, epic groveling chase. Happy ending.
A paranoid male lead who goes into a rage when he thinks his wife doesn't love him anymore, then ties her up as soon as he learns she still has feelings for him X an absurd female lead who secretly stalks her husband's updates, buys merch, and boosts his rankings every day, but doesn't want him to find out, so she keeps up the act of "Who are you? I don't know you, and I don't love you."
