Synopsis
In her previous life, Mu Jiu was a study in extremes.
As the leader of the immortal sects, she commanded armies, vanquished ghosts, and held the top spot on the Striking Clouds Ranking for ten years straight.
As a traitor to the immortal sects, she attacked the Immortal Alliance, blew up its barrier, and dragged powerful cultivators from every alliance into the grave with her.
The one thing she was never very good at was being a master.
One careless mistake, and the little disciple she had picked up along the way grew into a feral pup who thought about killing her all day. She had no choice but to toss him back to his sect.
Then, after she was hunted by the entire cultivation world and blew herself up in the Immortal Alliance, she opened her eyes to find that, by a twist of fate, she had become her disciple's disciple!
The little wolf pup who used to bare his teeth at her had become the master of his impoverished sect.
With a fan in hand and a sunny smile, he said, "Xiao Jiu, the future prosperity of our sect rests entirely on you."
Mu Jiu looked mournfully at the sect's mere three remaining members and cursed inwardly: You wastrel! You took a winning hand and played it into a complete mess!
But before long, she couldn't curse him anymore.
Because her beloved disciple and master kept striding farther down the road to self-destruction...
To reclaim the sword she once wielded, he forced his cultivation to advance and opened the Way of Reincarnation, willing to suffer bleeding from all seven orifices and an unstable soul.
To save her old friend, he charged alone into the Immortal Alliance, emerging with injuries all over and shattered spiritual meridians, then waited eagerly, afraid to disturb her reunion with her friend.
And finally, to save her, he faced the heavenly tribulation. Years of painstaking cultivation, his golden core reduced to dust and carried away by the wind.
What a spectacular way to get himself killed...
Mu Jiu: "Stop trying to get yourself killed. I'll admit I'm your master, all right?"
Sui Xiao had always thought Mu Jiu hated him.
Otherwise, why would she go to all that trouble to save him and take him as her disciple, only to dump him back at his sect and leave him to fend for himself? Nothing hurt more than being offered a sweet treat, only to be slapped right after.
So he hated her too.
He gave up the swordsmanship Mu Jiu excelled at and took up archery instead. He watched her walk toward the abyss, then developed soul loss after she vanished from the world.
Night after night, he wandered in his sleep, asking again and again, "Master, do you hate me that much?"
He held the sect together alone for ten years, imitated the personality and interests of her longtime friend, and turned himself into someone else.
At last, beneath the heavenly tribulation, he lay in her arms. "Master, could you teach me?"
This is a story where everyone gets a chance to take a regret-erasing pill~
