Lately, he kept thinking of the snowy mountains, the colorful prayer flags, and the mani stones by the road. He remembered running away with his belly swollen, crashing into Lu Dingmian, so terrified his teeth were chattering.

But Lu Dingmian laughed when he heard that. He said it was all an illusion. "I'm your husband. How could I scare you?"

Shen Mingyu felt that wasn't right. Lu Dingmian was lying to him. He wasn't gay to begin with, and he didn't love him.

In a brightly lit examination room, Lu Dingmian slowly said, "My wife lost her memory a year ago."

The doctor across from him closed his notebook. "Is that why you've come to see me? You want your wife to regain her memory, to remember you?"

"No." Lu Dingmian shook his head and smiled. "I came to ask if there's a way to make him believe again that he's carrying my baby."

Shen Mingyu tried desperately to remember the past, but he couldn't recall anything. Just as he was about to ask Lu Dingmian for a divorce, he spotted a room with its door slightly ajar.

In that room, Shen Mingyu remembered everything. He tried to run, but Lu Dingmian was standing in the doorway and dragged him back inside.

Dark shadows fell over Shen Mingyu. Lu Dingmian looked at him and suddenly smiled. "Mingyu, weren't you the one who wanted to remember the past?"

"Why are you so scared now that you have?"

A cold hand slid down his neck. Lu Dingmian said, "Mingyu, my dear Mingyu, will you have another baby for me?"
