The day she met her biological father.
Min Jingshui was led by a servant into a magnificent villa, feeling out of place everywhere she went.
Finding a chance to slip away, she wandered into the back garden. The light after the rain was dimmed beneath the old pagoda tree beside the pavilion.
She rose onto her toes and saw her father in the distance, slightly bowing with an uncharacteristic air of respect. When she drew closer, she noticed an elegant, dignified man standing by a pillar under the eaves.
That was the first time she met Liang Qishen.
Her father saw her and smiled as he introduced them. “This is my daughter, Jingshui. This is Mr. Liang.”
At the time, she had no idea what the name Liang meant in their circles.
Noticing his casual glance, Min Jingshui did not look away. She held her back straight yet relaxed, and greeted him with a beaming smile. “Hello, Mr. Liang.”
Whenever she thought of those first words, Min Jingshui couldn't help but sincerely feel that in the three years she had been with Mr. Liang, he had been wonderful in every way.
But she knew they were worlds apart. Life was a journey, and having experienced his affection was already enough for her.
When Mr. Liang was caught in a dilemma,
she took the initiative and suggested they end things. He looked at her in silence for a long while, then did not refuse.
Two years later, Min Jingshui was working late into the night.
She had just finished restoring an antique when she lifted her head, rubbing the back of her neck. Only then did she see the person standing silently by the window.
In disbelief, she softly called his name. “Liang Qishen?”
“Mm.” He walked over.
“How did you get here?” she asked.
Liang Qishen did not answer. He reached through the empty light and spoke in an exhausted, desolate voice. “Let me lean on you for a moment.”
Min Jingshui's breathing slowed, and she froze in surprise.
At last, with his arms around her, she heard him murmur, “Jingshui, I miss you so much.”
