A resilient, rational ice queen × a sweet-faced, dark-hearted, gloomy and unhinged man
Pseudo-incest / □□ fiction / coercive romance / rekindled love / the male lead forces them to get back together
Five-year-old Meng Mingjing was afraid of Meng Ke.
That year, Meng Mingjing lost both her parents in a plane crash and became an adopted daughter of the Meng family.
The Mengs already had a son, Meng Ke, three years older than her and one-quarter French. He had beautiful, soft brown hair and delicate features like an angel on a poster, but his personality was the complete opposite.
On her first day at the Meng home, Meng Mingjing was so frightened by the wolfhounds Meng Ke kept that she didn't dare enter the courtyard. The kennel keeper held their taut leashes and tried to reassure her, but his words rang hollow.
Only when Meng Ke appeared did the dogs quiet down, tails tucked between their legs. Though still a little boy, he already carried himself with calm, aristocratic poise. He glanced casually to the side, and the dogs fell silent at once.
“What a coward.” He stared at Meng Mingjing, then suddenly smiled. “Do what I say, and they won't bite you.”

Sixteen-year-old Meng Mingjing was disgusted by Meng Ke.
For a while, Meng Ke tied a bell around her ankle so he could tell if she had strayed too far from him.
Meng Mingjing couldn't stand wearing it for long. She slapped him across the face. “Meng Ke, you're insane!”
Meng Ke grabbed her hand and pressed it against the mark she'd left on his face. He stared straight at her, the corners of his mouth lifting. “Now you know how to call me Meng Ke. Why did you insist on calling me ‘Brother’ when we were out?”

Later, the Mengs seemed to realize something was going on and hurriedly sent Meng Mingjing abroad.
She never returned, not until five years later, when her adoptive mother fell seriously ill. She came back with her fiance to care for her.
By then, he had taken control of the family conglomerate. The sharp-edged boy he'd once been had become mature and steady, and he handled every social interaction flawlessly.
Meng Mingjing called him Brother. Meng Ke smiled. “You must be exhausted.”
She thought they had finally returned to a normal brother-and-sister relationship.
But on the very night Meng Mingjing told Meng Ke she planned to marry her fiance, she was locked in Meng Ke's bedroom.
He took out a Parma knife and smiled as he pressed it into her hand. “You can get married, but kill me first.”
When Meng Ke kissed her, the blade was already pressed against his carotid artery.
He remained completely absorbed in her. Even as blood ran down his neck and stained his white shirt, he continued greedily claiming her mouth.
Her tears and the dagger fell to the floor together, but he seemed not to feel the pain at all. He kissed her and laughed.
“See? You can't bring yourself to do it.”
Meng Mingjing was afraid of Meng Ke, disgusted by him, and hated him.
She hated his love and his hatred.
