Eighteen-year-old Qin Yutang (gong) comes from a wealthy family, doted on by both his parents. But he was born with a rebellious streak, and he excels at fighting and causing trouble. He is the school’s notorious little tyrant, someone no one dares to provoke lightly.
Except for Meng Zhusheng (shou), the school’s top student, who excels both academically and morally.
Qin Yutang just can’t figure it out. Meng Zhusheng is usually quiet, fair-skinned, and handsome, so why does he have to be such a pain, following right behind him every single day?
Whenever the teachers assign homework, Meng Zhusheng is always the first to put his class notes on Qin Yutang’s desk.
Before every exam, Meng Zhusheng even writes him little notes saying, “Don’t be nervous. You can do it.”
He even draws a little pink heart at the bottom.
The moment Qin Yutang sees the little heart, he flies into a rage:
“Gross! What kind of grown man draws pink hearts? Is this guy secretly in love with me or something?”
Qin Yutang’s best buddy quickly agrees. “He really is gross, but, Bro Qin, why are you blushing?”
Qin Yutang immediately gets flustered. “Who’s blushing? I’m asking if he’s secretly in love with me! What gives you the right to call him gross? What gives you the right!”
Best buddy: ? What?
Qin Yutang: ╰_╯
Best buddy: Fine, fine. So only you’re allowed to say that about him, right? But Meng Zhusheng definitely can’t be secretly in love with you. What are you thinking, Bro Qin? The top student’s straight!
Qin Yutang gets even angrier and declares with absolute conviction:
“So what if he’s straight? Who isn’t straight? He’s straight, and I’m straight too. He deserves to be secretly in love with me! You don’t know shit, you tasteless loser!”
Best buddy: ?_?
In the days that follow, Meng Zhusheng keeps showing Qin Yutang concern every day. What’s more, he even starts looking after Qin Yutang’s personal life.
He washes Qin Yutang’s clothes during the day, texts him at night to make sure he goes to bed early, and even hand-washes Qin Yutang’s gym shorts...
Qin Yutang’s ears grow hotter and hotter, and his gaze grows more complicated with each passing day.
Then, one day during PE, Meng Zhusheng walks up to Qin Yutang holding a pink letter.
Qin Yutang can’t sit still. His face instantly fills with anger and impatience:
“Couldn’t you have brought me that love letter earlier? Can’t you see I’m busy playing basketball?”
But Meng Zhusheng only gives him a puzzled look, then unfolds the pink letter. A ledger appears before Qin Yutang’s eyes.
It reads:
Homework notes delivered to your desk 32 times, 10 yuan each, total: 320 yuan
Laundry done 10 times, 12 yuan each, total: 120 yuan
30 bedtime reminder texts, 0.5 yuan each, total: 15 yuan
Gym shorts washed once (never mind, crossed out, no charge)
Qin Yutang is dumbfounded. Meng Zhusheng explains:
“Classmate, your mother privately asked me to do these things. She was worried you weren’t eating, sleeping, or studying well at school, so she hired me to keep an eye on you and take care of you. I charge for each time I help. Check the bill, and if there are no problems, you can settle this month’s fee.”
Qin Yutang stares blankly. Five seconds later, he sweeps the so-called damn bill off the table and says in disbelief:
“So you did all this for money? This isn’t a love letter, and you... you weren’t secretly in love with me at all?”
Meng Zhusheng furrows his brow, looking conflicted, but finally answers seriously:
“Sorry, classmate. I’m straight. Straight men don’t like other straight men. Besides... I don’t like mama’s boys.”
Qin Yutang is shattered: You’re the mama’s boy! Your whole family are mama’s boys!!! (breathing fire)
