Just a Dream

The day his parents divorced, seven-year-old Gu Qiujue hid in a wardrobe and happened to meet Gu Dongtian, a boy his age.

Gu Qiujue: "Who are you?"

Gu Dongtian: "I'm an angel here to keep you company. From now on, I'll be your sunny day."

Gu Dongtian stays by Gu Qiujue as they slowly grow up. Gu Qiujue is bullied many times, and Gu Dongtian remembers every incident. Then one day, Gu Dongtian takes over and helps Gu Qiujue fight back.

Gu Dongtian: "What game are you playing?"

Gu Qiujue also sees a side of Gu Dongtian he has never seen before.

In high school, Gu Qiujue is kicked out by his father for choosing the humanities track. In that hallway, he kisses Gu Dongtian.

Gu Dongtian: "Why did you kiss me?"

After high school graduation, his mother regains custody of him, and Gu Qiujue becomes a writer. After he suffers prolonged online harassment, his mother takes him to see a psychologist, and they discover Gu Dongtian's existence.

Doctor: "You should get rid of him."

Gu Qiujue: "I'm sorry, I can't."

Gu Dongtian realizes that his existence is unhealthy for Gu Qiujue, so he leaves of his own accord. Just as he goes, the rain stops.

Gu Dongtian: "Now it's your turn to become the sunny day."

Ever since Gu Dongtian left, the only way Gu Qiujue can see him is in his dreams.

A few years later, Gu Qiujue gets into a car accident while saving a child.

Just before he dies, he seems to see Gu Dongtian again.

"Dongtian, I'm coming to find you."

Dongtian is pronounced tian.
