[The earlier chapters went off track and need a major rewrite, so I'm putting them aside for now. Orz]
Twenty-eight-year-old office worker Qi Jingyi received devastating news on her way to work: her parents had died in an accident.
To bring them back to life, Qi Jingyi chose to bind herself to a sphere that called itself the Merit System. She would travel through different worlds, complete missions, and earn merit points to buy a resurrection item for her parents.
Fifty billion merit points... Qi Jingyi nearly blacked out, but there was no turning back, and she had never planned to.
Whether it was a chaotic, dark apocalypse, a strange fantasy world of demons and monsters, a famine-stricken world plagued by natural disasters, or a wasteland torn apart by endless conflict... she never considered giving up.
But why, as she ventured deeper into these mission worlds, did Qi Jingyi gradually realize that things seemed different from what she'd expected?
Her parents weren't her parents, and the System wasn't a System. Then what about her?
Qi Jingyi thought it over. What was she, really?
[Apocalypse World skit]
Qi Jingyi lay sprawled beside a pile of zombies she'd beaten to pieces, her entire body smeared with chunks of flesh and blood.
The team's healer hurried over to treat her, but she stopped them. A teammate who controlled water tried to rinse the blood off her, but she stopped them too. The youngest teammate ran over, stopped a meter in front of her, and was about to wail, but she stopped them as well.
Teammates: ...What are you trying to do?
Qi Jingyi said gravely, "The authentic spicy dried beef I just found fell in there while I was fighting the zombies. Hurry and dig it out."
[Fantasy World skit]
Qi Jingyi felt something was off. Her body itched, as if something was about to grow on her.
After being human for decades, she thought that becoming a snake in a fantasy world of demons and monsters was already as low as she could go.
But she hadn't imagined it could get worse. She was a deformed snake.
"System, can you tell me why I'm growing legs when I'm a snake?"
She wasn't even sure they were legs. Maybe they were some kind of growth unique to snakes.
[Famine World skit]
She was really about to starve to death. Thin and sallow, Qi Jingyi followed the crowd as they migrated across this despairing land.
Everyone here was a hunter, and at any moment, anyone could become prey in someone else's jaws.
But Qi Jingyi was neither. She thought she would become the one to put an end to all of this.
A companion beside her heard her resolute words, weakly cast her a pitying glance, and thought, There goes another one.
[Wasteland World skit]
After going through so many worlds, Qi Jingyi considered herself experienced and well-informed. Very little could stir up much of an emotional reaction in her anymore.
But the mecha towering nearly thirty stories tall before her left her speechless for a long moment.
"Are you out of your mind?" she asked the mecha pilot beside her. "We're supposed to sneak in, not make a scene. How am I supposed to sneak around in this mecha? Swim through an underground river?"
Reading guide:
1. Each world is a separate instance, so you can read this as a quick transmigration story. There are other worldviews beyond the instances.
2. The heroine grows stronger over time. She won't start off as the strongest, and she won't be tortured.
3. There is no fixed male lead, but there is a romance plot.
4. The setting and outline are fully prepared, and this will be a very long story. I'm a new author and have been planning this story for a long time. I'll keep working on my writing and will never abandon it.
5. Come chat with me! Mwah, mwah!
