Every day, Peilan hoped the man would kick the bucket. Instead, the man went from badly wounded and near death to lively and energetic in no time. With no fresh corpse to show for it and no way to chase him off, Peilan had no choice but to take him on as a magic apprentice.

But his student was a bit of an idiot. He stumbled through his words and only knew how to grin stupidly. He drank several vats of potions without developing even a trace of magic, and couldn't cast even the simplest spell!

But whenever Peilan looked at that face, he felt that maybe it wouldn't hurt to try one more time to save him.

Lou Guanyue, the most notorious fiend in the cultivation world, appeared as bright and gentle as moonlight, but was ruthless to the core. Everyone who had ever offended him had seen the grass on their graves grow back again and again.

Only one audacious boy dared to claim he was Lou Guanyue's master and still managed to stay by his side, whole from head to toe.

“I'll teach you how to harvest resentment,” Peilan said excitedly, demonstrating.

After a flash of golden light, the person in the hospital bed passed away peacefully. Lou Guanyue silently crushed the blood-sacrifice formation he had just set up. “I got it, I got it.”

Peilan waved a hand grandly. “I command an invincible army of the dead.”

Lou Guanyue looked at the handful of minions before them, hid the Ten Thousand Souls Banner he'd refined on a whim, and praised him sincerely. “Wow, Teacher, you're incredible!”

Later, Peilan really did become a renowned necromancer, although the process wasn't quite what he had imagined.
