I kept taking it, and all I managed to get was a temp position in a remote area. Well, a temp is still a proper job. I figured I could work while studying and maybe get out of there once my service term was over."
"Then, when a suitable position finally opened up back home, I went in feeling confident. When the results came out, I got thirty-five on the essay section! Oh my god, thirty-five! I'd studied with Brother Dong for so long and taken the exam so many times! That was my worst score ever. I thought I wasn't cut out for the civil service exam and wanted to give up, but then I died and ended up in the underworld, still a temp! Why is my life so miserable? Waaah!"
Wu Cheng, her senior, patted Li Nuo on the shoulder. "Look on the bright side. Maybe you'll have better luck after death than you did in life. See? Your score hasn't gone into the negatives yet, so there's still hope."
"Waaah, you're so nice, Senior!"
"Oh, I forgot to tell you. I've been promoted and transferred elsewhere!"
