The Scorching Sun Falls Behind Palace Walls

Though she was the youngest daughter of the Grand Princess, she was granted the title of princess. Everyone said the emperor doted on Princess Jiaoyang more than on his own children, even more than he did the Crown Prince.

Rumors began spreading through court that the Crown Prince would be deposed, and whoever married Princess Jiaoyang would become the next emperor.

The Third Prince and Princess Jiaoyang had grown up together. With her support, he was unrivaled at court, and even the Crown Prince had to avoid crossing him.

No one expected the Third Prince to grow tired of his good fortune and bring a woman before Princess Jiaoyang, saying he wanted to take her as a secondary consort.

Princess Jiaoyang looked baffled. "I'm not your mother. Why are you telling me that you want to take a secondary consort?"

The Third Prince, who couldn't even live off a woman properly, was kicked aside.

Watching Qin Jiaoyang say goodbye to the Fifth Prince nearby, Lin Han couldn't help feeling puzzled.

"Didn't they say that whoever married Princess Jiaoyang would inherit the throne? Does that mean the Fifth Prince is the one who'll ascend in the end?"

Hearing her mumble, Qin Jiaoyang shook her head with a soft laugh. "I've got this much ability. Why would I still help someone else take the throne?"
