On the Beastfolk Continent, Lu Lin gets into the best major at the best university in her hometown: police dog training. You get a dog as soon as you enter the program, and four years later you graduate with your dog. If the human flunks, the dog flunks too; if the dog flunks, the human flunks too. Flunks as in failing a course.
Before starting school, Lu Lin is terribly worried. What if they assign me a stupid dog?
Little Black Sesame, who is about to be assigned to a new college student, hears the news from the chief trainer and is struck as if by lightning. What if they assign me a stupid human?!
The two of them independently come up with the same idea: find out in advance which human or dog they will be paired with, by any means necessary.
At last, they manage it.
At the entrance to the teaching building, Lu Lin and Black Sesame meet for the first time. They size each other up, eyes full of suspicion, and slowly move closer.
Bang! Bang! They both crash into the transparent glass doors at the entrance.
Watching the other hold their head and grimace in pain, each feels their heart sink.
Look how stupid this dog (person) is. It's over, my college life.
