The emperor, devastated by the loss of his beloved daughter and egged on by her husband Wei Baoheng, intends to execute all the imperial physicians and punish their families as well, setting off the Tongchang Case. Chang'an is on the brink of running red with blood.

The case draws the attention of the mysterious organization known across the court and among the common people as the Chang'an Fragrance Office.

With more than three hundred lives at stake and the case of grave importance, Meng Zhi, a young woman who usually loafs around at the Fragrance Office, is forced to get serious. Thus begins her tearful, hilarious journey as a detective.

Career synopsis:

Meng Zhi went out to find work, following the principle that if you can slack off, you should. Before joining the Fragrance Office, she managed to slack off until every shop she worked for went out of business.

After she joined the Fragrance Office, her parents were afraid she'd slack off until it went under, too. They urged her to find a government job and earn a “stable” living.

By chance, Meng Zhi set her sights on a position at the Jingzhao Prefecture.

“The Jingzhao Prefecture is a government office. It can't go bankrupt, can it?”

Xue Chen hesitated to answer.

Romance synopsis:

Xue Chen was handsome, charming, and dashing. By the time he was seventeen, everyone adored him.

And yet, on the very first day she met him, one little girl called him a dog.

Everyone around them wondered: Meng Zhi calls him a “dog,” so why does he look like he enjoys it?

The author mainly writes BL and knows little about the Tang dynasty. Although this story is inspired by the case of Princess Tongchang in the Tang dynasty, that case is only a starting point. Most of the story takes place in a fictional world, so please don't nitpick historical details.

The author has recently been learning about spices and thought she'd write a little romance story for fun, and enter it in a contest while she was at it.
