A Day in the Life of a Worker in Bianjing

Shen Yi'an woke up to find her whole world had collapsed!

As a super overachiever who worked five jobs a day, she'd just saved enough to buy a house when a construction truck ran her over, earning her a transmigration package deal.

The good news: she was living in Bianjing, a place with open-minded people and a thriving business scene.

The bad news: her family lived in Willow Lane, the legendary slum of all slums. Her parents had four children and lived off her dad's bird-keeping and gardening, never knowing where the next meal would come from.

Even worse, her family lived by the lie-flat philosophy. Whenever they had a bit of silver to spare, they loved buying all sorts of miscellaneous, completely useless things.

Looking at the beautiful broken stone in the corner, the legendary night pot left behind by Qin Shi Huang, the little knickknacks abandoned halfway through assembly, and herself, who had spent half a month eating coarse rice and water until she nearly threw up, Shen Yi'an snapped!

Her father wanted to live freely and answer to no one, spending money recklessly whenever he got the chance? Well, to support the family, he'd better get himself a proper job!

Her younger brother wandered the streets all day doing nothing? No problem. He could become a Bianjing-style delivery guy. Let's go!

She wouldn't slack off either. Hello? Is this the sumo center? I heard you're hiring. I'm Shen Yi'an, I'm incredibly capable, and I can do the work of five people. Hire me!

As for her mother and little sister, they wouldn't be sitting around either. They could spend the day simmering sour plum drink at home, then have the whole family set up a stall at the night market in the evening. The main goal: make money, make money!

With me, Shen Yi'an, around, no one in the Shen family is allowed to be idle.

Bianjing? Piece of cake.
