Han Ying's women's column, "Dreams and Mornings," was affected when an indecent video of Yang Mengting, a guest scheduled to appear soon, was leaked. But Han Ying was more concerned about Yang Mengting's adopted daughter, Du Xiyue. That night, Han Ying went to Yang Mengting's building and saw her lover, Shen Bangyan, about to go inside. A few days later, Han Ying received a call from the police asking her to help clarify some details. Security footage showed that late at night, the day after her visit, Yang Mengting had driven away from home. Yet her mother insisted that her daughter was in danger. Connecting Yang Mengting's husband's accidental death with her daughter's disappearance, sharp-eyed detective Zhao Yan sensed something amiss and immediately launched an investigation.
Before long, the police found pieces of a body in Yang Mengting's home and recovered her car from a river on the outskirts of the city. As the investigation deepened, the prime suspect, Shen Bangyan, mysteriously disappeared, and the case reached a dead end. Just when they were at a loss, Zhao Yan's teacher, Jiang Yutao, pointed out that the root of all the conflicts seemed to be the adopted child.
And that was exactly the truth.
