Synopsis:

Chen Jiuyu thinks he's cold, withdrawn, and prone to overthinking.

Until he meets Ling Chun, who smiles and tells him, "You're just slow to warm up."

You deserve to be loved.

So he works up the courage to confess to her.

They're both at the age when love is new. As expected, they get together.

But Ling Chun is the one who takes the lead.

As for Chen Jiuyu... he can count on one hand the number of times he makes a move.

So Ling Chun comes to believe that he doesn't love her, and that his confession was a joke from beginning to end.

She develops depression.

Ling Chun keeps telling herself that she doesn't love him at all, that she's just an actress with a knack for pretending.

Pleased with her own performance.

But she keeps up the act for nine years.

Except depression's physical symptoms can't be faked.
