Jiang Liu is a descendant of Shennong. Every hundred years, he descends to the mortal world to undergo a trial and save the people of a desolate land. Jiang Liu has a sworn enemy, Cang Zhuo, and the two can't stand each other. When Cang Zhuo learned Jiang Liu was going down to the mortal world again, he smiled without warmth and said, "Hope you make it back alive." Sure.
Jiang Liu replied coldly, "Thanks." See you never.
The next moment, Jiang Liu and Cang Zhuo transmigrated together to a primitive beast world by the sea!
Jiang Liu stared in shock. "What happened to you?"
Cang Zhuo was baffled. "How should I know!"
Jiang Liu muttered, "This shouldn't be happening. Nothing like this has happened in hundreds of years!"
"Enough talking. Turn me back into a human! This is all your fault!" Cang Zhuo, now a blade of grass in his original form, was furious.
Jiang Liu pointed at himself. So, on top of clearing land, farming, and raising livestock, he had to help his sworn enemy look human again first?

A group of beastfolk had migrated to the seaside. They only knew how to gather what the tides brought in, and couldn't even make sense of the meager "gifts from nature" they collected each day.
Watching the beastfolk ignore the vast ocean around them, Jiang Liu rolled up his sleeves and taught them to build boats, fish, and raise seafood in enclosed ponds. Razor clam relish, dried croaker, silverfish jerky, cured scale fish... He'd make every kind of delicious food!
Gradually, Jiang Liu noticed that his sworn enemy, Cang Zhuo, seemed to be getting less short-tempered under his influence. Cang Zhuo knew all kinds of medicinal herbs in the beast world, so Jiang Liu returned to his old profession, tending the fields and treating the furry folk's tricky ailments along the way.
Even the mutated crops here, from rice stalks that could stab you to poisonous tubers, were dealt with by Jiang Liu and Cang Zhuo. From then on, everyone's lives got better and better!
A little scene:
Cang Zhuo's true form was a magical phantom grass that could freely change shape. Once he learned how much Jiang Liu loved fluffy creatures, he often appeared in different beast forms.
The giant furry creature watched Jiang Liu sleep soundly on top of him, completely unguarded, and couldn't help lowering his head to lick Jiang Liu's fair cheek.
Jiang Liu woke when the bristles scraped him and asked sleepily, "Did you just lick me?"
Damn, I forgot tiger tongues have barbs. Cang Zhuo hurriedly turned away. "Ahem, nothing of the sort. You were dreaming."
Many years later, a legend spread throughout the beast world: the Beast God had three beastfolk guardians by his side, a tiger, a wolf, and a leopard. One demi-beastfolk and three beastfolk... Such a thing was extremely rare in the beast world. No wonder he was the Beast God!
