Many years ago, Batman made a declaration during his career as a vigilante:
"I Am Vengeance!
I Am The Night!
I Am Batman!"
For years, he lived by that oath. He fought crime, helped the weak, and did his best to hold down the other end of Gotham's scales so they wouldn't tip any further.
But he would grow old eventually, and his strength would fail him. While fighting crime one day, he fell from a rooftop, unable to do a thing to save himself.
When he opened his eyes again, he was inside the Batmobile.
This was Gotham, with a human Batman, Robin, and Alfred.
He looked at the people beside him, then lowered his gaze to his own paws and spoke his first words:
"Meow?"
They decided to take in the black cat and name him:
"Gotham Catman."
