Qin Yousi thinks the best decision she ever made was marrying her husband.
The court has collapsed, and refugees fill the roads, but her husband still has a job. It takes little effort, pays well, and, most importantly, is safe and secure. In these troubled times, that is the hardest thing to come by.
Her husband is gentle and refined, never raises his voice, and always has a smile on his face. He is honest and dependable with others, and treats her with the utmost care, taking on every household chore, from washing clothes to cooking meals.
Aside from being a little too demanding in bed, everything is perfect. It is the ordinary married life she had always hoped for.
Then one day, she unexpectedly discovers that her honest, straightforward husband is plotting an armed rebellion.
The neighborhood matron who usually chats with her about everyday matters, and her close confidante, are both his advisors and subordinates.
Qin Yousi cannot believe it. She is sure these ill-intentioned people have led her husband astray. She speaks ill of them to him and urges him to stay away from such bad influences. She also drills him on all the drawbacks of becoming a rebel. Her husband comes to his senses and listens to her, distancing himself from them.
Terrified, Qin Yousi thinks it over and decides she has to persuade her husband to move.
They settle in a new place and start a new life. Afraid that her too-trusting husband will be duped again, she tells him to rest at home for a while and goes out to work herself.
Life seems to have returned to the way it was at first.
Then, one day, she forgets something and rushes back home, only to catch her gentle, honest husband coldly chopping off three men's heads without so much as blinking.
Everyone in the courtyard is kneeling on the ground, trembling all over. Their voices are full of awe and fear: "Your Majesty, please calm your anger!"
So this is the rebels' stronghold.
So her husband never distanced himself from those people at all.
So they have already reached the final stage of their rebellion. All they need to do is find the former dynasty's lost princess, then kill her and...
This time, Qin Yousi runs away.
What else can she do? She doesn't want her own husband to kill her as a sacrifice to rally the troops!
