Falaya stood by the window of the Salomon Palace, watching the grand title-conferral ceremony outside. He gently stroked the insect egg nestled in its pouch and spoke softly.
At the time, he had no idea that once the male insect reached adulthood and entered society, he would become someone Falaya no longer recognized...
Years later, the nobility had been overthrown, and a parliamentary federation had replaced the imperial monarchy.
Yet insect society remained unchanged. Male insects lived in extravagant luxury, using pheromones and mental power to control female insects.
Sub-females were still at the very bottom of society. Their ability to reproduce was almost nonexistent, making them unfit to be primary or secondary spouses. They were slender and delicate, unable to ride into battle like female soldiers. Their sole purpose was to serve as male insects’ playthings after meals.
Except for one sub-female.
Every insect on the planet knew that Major General Falaya was a sub-female. Yet even the marshal praised his mental domain when it was expanded. Years in the military had not made the major general’s skin rough. Instead, they had added a touch of resolve to his already handsome face. Many high-ranking male insects willingly asked to be matched with him as a secondary spouse, or even a primary spouse.
But Major General Falaya turned them all down.
Only his adjutant knew that Major General Falaya already had a male spouse, and that the two of them had a child.
But the other was merely a frail, seriously ill insect with weak mental power... Beautiful, and nothing more. Beautiful to an almost inhuman degree.
The adjutant didn’t understand.
A lovesick, obsessive, loyal-dog sub-female bottom; a fatalistic, proud, last-generation noble male insect top.
An insect’s adulthood is determined solely by when their rank stabilizes.
Status gap, light coercion. Sub-females’ reproductive ability is almost nonexistent, but not completely absent.
Because I’m a lazy writer, each chapter will probably be pretty short. I’ll stop myself in time.
