Today Is a Good Day for a Spring Outing

[Rebellious Sun vs. Serene Magnolia] He

In Chang'an City, magnolias as white as snow bloomed in the Shen residence.

Shen Yichun spent her days with books for company, reading by the window beside the magnolias.

By the banks of Qujiang Lake, young men were brimming with spirit and vitality.

Xie Yuqing, Chang'an City's most popular heartthrob, rode horses and flew kites, making countless noblewomen swoon.

--

Shen Yichun: I am a daughter of the Shen family in the east of the city. Poetry, books, etiquette, and propriety are my strong suits.

The clamor outside the wall? It has nothing to do with me...

Until one day, a gigantic kite came crashing into the magnolia tree in the outer courtyard!

A boy and his kite sent fragrant snow scattering across the courtyard.

Xie Yuqing: Yours truly, Young Master Xie! Chang'an City's hottest young man! Golden robes, a white horse, a peony tucked behind my ear, and top-notch kite-flying skills!

The young man was riding high on the spring breeze, never imagining that his kite string would snap!

Climb over a wall for his beloved kite? Easy!

Wait...

Would someone tell him who the peach-cheeked young woman beneath this tree was?

Worse still, the inscription he was so proud of was corrected on the spot by the young woman: "Young Master, this character for 'kite'..."

"It seems to be missing a dot?"

Xie Yuqing: "!!!"

For the first time in his life, the heartthrob blushed!

Shen Yichun was just as bewildered. A gigantic kite falling from the sky was one thing, but why had it come with a glittering young man wearing a peony behind his ear?

--

The peony blazing by his ear, whose heartbeat did it throw into disarray?

Her fingertip pointing out the wrong character, whose ears did it make blush?

From then on, people often saw a delicate kite quietly sail over the tall wall and land in the Shen residence.

The spring breeze did not understand, but the kite carried its feelings all the same.

That year, deep in the spring of Chang'an, a kite flew over the wall around their hearts.

--

How does a heartthrob get his charm back in front of the girl he likes?

Young Master Xie: Thanks for asking! I'm working on it!
