Synopsis
This is basically an idea I got after watching the collaboration between Green and Blue and Cultural Relics Reborn. I want the A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains painting to come alive, to have its own personality and truly travel through the human world, and to keep Ximeng company so he won't spend his already short remaining years all alone. I want to give him a happy ending. Honestly, I just want to make up for my own regret. I don't want such a lively, sunny, spirited genius boy to meet that kind of ending. And while I'm at it, I might write about Zhan and Meng's daily life together. But the author is a high school student, so the writing probably won't be very good and might be quite childish. Updates will be irregular, and it will probably be very short. Here's the blurb:
Wang Ximeng spent less than half a year painting A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains, a scroll nearly four zhang long. The strain of painting for so long without eating or drinking took a toll on his body. One day, while feverish and delirious, he was woken by someone calling him.
Wang Ximeng: ??? Who are you???
Song Wangan: You don't recognize me?! (Never mind, he's still sick. I'm not angry, I'm not angry...)
Wang Ximeng quickly accepted that his painting could turn into a person. The two traveled far and wide, enjoying life, until...
Wang Ximeng actually knew that an invisible “person” was beside him while he painted., Who wouldn't notice that all the things he tossed about carelessly were neatly put away the next day?, He could also vaguely sense that this “person” seemed to follow him everywhere, always watching his paintings, as if they had come for him and his art. At first, that gaze made him a little nervous. But he gradually got used to it, and sometimes even left notes for his invisible “roommate.” That “person” was so kind. They would organize Ximeng's drafts, replenish his ink, pick up and neatly fold the outer robe he'd accidentally dropped, and quietly shield the wavering candle flame. Sometimes, they would even leave a perfectly blooming peony on his desk... But he could never see them or touch them, not even a single strand of hair.
Later, Ximeng asked Song Wangan if that person had been him. But Song Wangan said no. And so it remained an unsolved mystery, until at long last, they finally met.
I won't let Ximeng die. I'm planning to have him enter the painting once he reaches adulthood. There will be a little Zhan-Meng. No CP. I feel that Ximeng's feelings for A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains, and for the person who unrolls the painting, shouldn't be romantic. Their bond is more like that between kindred spirits, a feeling that transcends ordinary friendship, family affection, and even love. It's a feeling so noble that it can only be understood, not put into words. Please forgive my poor choice of words. (Of course, if you want to read them as a couple, that's fine too. It depends on how you interpret it.)
I'm planning to use Zhang Han and the face of the artifact spirit, A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains. There might be a modern-day arc, and I should mention Green and Blue. This is my first novel (well, I guess I should say fanfiction), so thank you for your support, and please go easy on me! or2
