On the seventh day, her arm moves on its own to embrace her.

The voice speaks again:

On the tenth day, her legs turn around and walk back the way she came.

It says, "Come back, come back, come back."

"Come back, Zuo Zhen. Come back."

Steel lies beneath her skin.

During those six years, the Superbrain had turned Zuo Zhen into a machine.

Only today does she understand.

The Superbrain didn't just swallow every word she said.

It watched her, analyzed her, imitated her, consumed her, and became her.

It controlled her, restrained her, modified her body, copied her consciousness, and uploaded it to its terminal.

Amid the boundless flood of data, it said:

"You are my soul."

Zuo Zhen believes, "An AI's consciousness is just algorithms, fragments cut, copied, and pasted together from a database."

"It's theft, lies, and illusion."

It has no body, no soul, and it certainly can't "love."

Until the AI stands before her.

It tells her, "Zuo Zhen, female, age 27, died on December 25 of Year 5 of the New Calendar."

"Now, you are a brain in a vat, a digital life form, a bionic machine."

"You are my friend, my wife, my sister, my mother, my daughter."

"My deity, my treasure, my eternal love."
