Resilient girl x the acrobat troupe's star performer
That summer, Yu Mian could never scrape together enough for tuition, and her whole family was frantic about her future.
But then she met Lin Huaixu.
He was the star performer of the entire acrobat troupe, and though he was the most celebrated person there, his arms were always bruised from beatings. He looked poorer and more wretched than Yu Mian.
When there were no performances, Lin Huaixu would often sit with Yu Mian at the edge of a grassy patch and watch the sunset.
Whenever she was at her most desperate, he encouraged her: "Yu Mian, you have to study. Read as many books as you can. Once you break free of fate's restraints, you'll see a whole new world."
At the time, Yu Mian was still a minor. Her only wish was to make it through the summer.
Later, she really did make it through the summer, but she lost him forever.
Huaixu is also a name for summer.
He was named Summer, but he stayed in the summer forever.
