Yang Zheng landed in a cyberpunk world and became a “fortune-telling master” just to make ends meet.
Customer 1: “Master, our school has been in session for two months straight. How can we get a day off?”
Yang Zheng: “Jump from the school building and you'll get half a day off.”
Customer 1: “You're amazing, Master! I threw my deskmate off, and we really did get half a day off.”
Customer 2: “Master, I can't find my ID. Is there some kind of metaphysical trick to help me find it?”
Yang Zheng: “Get into an online argument with someone. You'll have your mugshot made public in no time.”
Customer 2: “Incredible, Master! I found all my personal information, except my parents are gone!”
[That was too hellish. Merit -1]
[Because you've done too many awful things, you have been forcibly bound to the Merit System]
[Accumulate a certain amount of merit to receive rewards. If your score drops to zero, you will be erased from existence]
From then on, the world lost a fraud and gained a helpful citizen.
When a cyberpunk megacorporation sacrificed baby girls, she single-handedly kicked down the robot hideout.
“Don't be afraid,” she comforted her client afterward. “With that many sacrifices, the underworld must be a matriarchy. It's been run by sisters for ages.”
[Merit +2, but the dark joke cost 1 merit]
When she smashed a brain-computer virus threatening teenagers, she sighed at the drug trafficker they'd caught: “Sure, your family is gone, but from now on, every selfie you take will be a family portrait.”
[Merit +5, but the dark joke cost 1 merit]

It was humanity's final creation, their last trump card.
Born of corruption, born anew.
Born from the Mechanical Heart that the elite worshipped most of all.
As Yang Zheng's merit score kept climbing, she received a notification from the System:
[Host's merit score has reached its maximum. The God-Making Project has officially begun]
Gradually, Yang Zheng realized that the false gods she'd destroyed and the cultists she'd overthrown were all kneeling at her feet.
They said, “We've finally found you! My god! You are electricity! You are light! You are the one and only legend!”
Yang Zheng: “I only love you, you are my superstar?”
Wait, wasn't I just trying to make ends meet?
Why are they all calling me a god?
My new novel is out! Here's the reading guide:
1. The dark jokes are more about satirizing the current state of affairs than attacking people's sore spots. The protagonist has a sharp tongue, but doesn't attack people indiscriminately.
2. All theological and religious elements in this story are fictional and have no real-life counterparts. The novel does not promote them.
3. The heroine treats everyone equally with her absurdity. She won't do anything that causes division. Whoever you are, you'll get slapped.
4. The romance is with a nonhuman. The male lead is an AI with no fixed form. Don't read if that bothers you.
5. The dark jokes all come from the internet. I may revise the story from time to time, but I have a large backlog, so you can follow without worry.
Theme: Live life on your own terms
