Xie Youjia is a universally disliked phony.
As a highly paid criminology expert hired by the Tianjin Police Headquarters, Xie Youjia has money, a sharp tongue, and a love of looking good. Everything about his life, from his food and clothes to his home and travel, is utterly modern.
But when it comes to cases, he is never picky. If someone has died, he wants to go and see what the fuss is about.
To him, solving crimes is as captivating as a puzzle game.
The chief treats him like royalty, his colleagues treat him like a plague, and the victims treat him like a savior.
But the phony Xie Youjia doesn't care about any of that. All he cares about is whether he can make it to Qishilin before closing time for his favorite vanilla cream cake.
* Male protagonist with no romantic pairing and no love story.
* Set in Republican-era Tianjin, but not historically accurate at all. Treat it as an alternate setting.
* A mystery and crime-solving episodic story, with a little overarching plot.
Theme: You must love yourself before you can love others
