Jiang Shi was the illegitimate son of the Jiang family of C City. He was shunned and bullied from childhood, and during his youth, only Jian Qingzhi was willing to talk to him and let him follow along. Before long, however, the Jiang family sent him abroad.
For the ten years from age fifteen to twenty-five, Jian Qingzhi was the only thing Jiang Shi had to hold on to.
Ten years later, Jiang Shi appeared at the airport in C City. Inside a luxury car, an expensive watch accentuated the slender, sharply boned wrist of a man with unnaturally pale skin. His voice was clear and cold. “My eldest brother will be looking forward to his little brother coming home.”
His smile never reached his eyes, sending a chill through anyone who saw it.
Jiang Shi had become ruthless and decisive. He didn’t take the Jiang family seriously at all; dealing with them would be a simple matter. His reason for returning to the country was Jian Qingzhi.
Jiang Shi said nothing, his knuckles cracking.
One summer night when he was seventeen, the boy stared at the photograph on the wall, and his thoughts took a different turn.
From then on, this person filled his dreams.
“I don’t like Jian Qingzhi. I love him.” In the mirror at night, that gorgeous face gazed obsessively at the photograph on his phone, then pressed a kiss to it. In the photograph, Jian Qingzhi was at a banquet, with the delicate hand of a society heiress resting on his arm.
Jiang Shi’s eyes turned bloodshot. He was going mad with jealousy.
They had been apart for ten years and were practically strangers, but Jiang Shi couldn’t stand seeing anyone touch Jian Qingzhi. He wanted to break the hand resting on Jian Qingzhi’s arm.
The thought tormented him until the next morning. His bloodshot eyes watched a streak of light appear on the horizon, and Jiang Shi smiled. “Jian Qingzhi, you’re mine.”
Before long, Jiang Shi became one of the most sought-after people in their social circle. Everyone said he was wonderful to others, tactful and smooth in everything he did, and even smiled warmly at his business rivals.
Jiang Shi found his way into Jian Qingzhi’s circle.
Jian Qingzhi was a rare presence in their social circle. The Jian family was a powerhouse of capital, but the young master himself rarely showed up at the company. He had an elegant, bookish air, the kind of man people called an aloof flower on a high peak.
“Jiang Shi, come see the exhibition with me tomorrow?”
“Jiang Shi, I’m at the academy. Want to come over?”
Jiang Shi gradually appeared everywhere in Jian Qingzhi’s life. Jian Qingzhi’s things began to accumulate in Jiang Shi’s home: a shirt Jian Qingzhi couldn’t find, a cufflink he’d dropped on the court, a toothbrush he’d used once at a hotel...
The master bedroom of Jiang Shi’s riverside villa belonged to Jian Qingzhi.
The people around them felt as though Jiang Shi had bewitched Jian Qingzhi. They had never seen him get so close to anyone before. “Young Master Jian, you’ve seemed to be in good spirits lately.”
Jian Qingzhi smiled elegantly. “Yes. Jiang Shi and I get along well.”
A friend was taken aback. “I heard he was ruthless abroad. How could he be like this now?”
Jian Qingzhi smiled and shook his head. “Jiang Shi isn’t a bad person. I’ve known him since we were children.”
“All right, as long as you know what you’re doing.”
Jian Qingzhi knew what he was doing, at least until he saw that bedroom.
Beneath the dim lights, the river view was still dazzling. Jian Qingzhi slowly awoke on the large bed, his hands bound. His pupils trembled.
The entire room was full of his things. “Jiang Shi!”
“Now the last thing is in place too, Jian Qingzhi.” Jiang Shi sat on the floor, murmuring. He knew he’d messed up, but he couldn’t bear seeing Jian Qingzhi’s hand around another man’s waist.
His gaze drifted to the hickey on Jian Qingzhi’s neck, and Jiang Shi smiled. It belonged to him.
