Yin Xunzhen has had a lot on her mind lately.
She disguised herself as a man and went to the battlefield to save her father and brothers, and ended up rescuing the foxlike Pei Zhao along the way.
He smiles with a dagger hidden behind it, has more schemes than a honeycomb has holes, and is always popping up right in front of her...
Pei Zhao in his day-to-day life:
"Young Master Yin, this batch of saltpeter is excellent quality. It should increase the explosive power by thirty percent."
"Young Master Yin, you worked all night drawing those plans. Why don't we soak in a hot spring together?"
"That red mole at the corner of your eye reminds me of someone I once knew." A probing glint flickered in his eyes.
One day, Yin Xunzhen found a small booklet in his room:
"Assessment of Potential Partners"
Name: Yin Xun
Threat level: A
Note: Their mechanical engineering skills exceed expectations. Recommend recruiting them rather than making an enemy of them.
Yin Xunzhen raised an eyebrow, closed the booklet, then promptly "invited" Pei Zhao into a secret chamber full of mechanisms.
"Young Master Pei, cooperation requires sincerity." She tapped the page with her fingertip. "For example, explain what this is."
Pei Zhao suddenly leaned close to her ear, his breath hot. "Then perhaps Young Master Yin should first explain why the Tiangong Pavilion's weapons keep driving up the prices at my Youzhou Merchant Association?"
The playful version:
Yin Xunzhen (smiling): Using me?
Pei Zhao (raising an eyebrow): Right back at you.
Gu Duolu (slamming the table): "Could you two stop flirting and get me out of this formation first?!"
Two powerful schemers, constantly sabotaging each other, falling in love while they fight: "What? We've both had a crush on each other all along?"
Theme: You can scheme your way through the world, but the hardest thing to unravel is a sincere heart.
