When Ju Xiaoshan jumped from the rooftop, the first person to appear in his life-flashing-before-his-eyes was "Brother Yu," who had been out of touch for nine years and remained missing without a trace.
When he wakes up in the hospital, he sees a figure flicker past the doorway. It looks a little like He Yu, the owner of the architectural firm where he's about to intern. This man shares the same name as "Brother Yu" and is relentlessly pursuing Ju Xiaoshan's roommate and best friend.
Before he can solve the mystery of the two He Yus, another person claiming to be his benefactor appears out of nowhere. The benefactor doesn't give a name, but arranges a stay at a top-tier convalescent home for Ju Xiaoshan, who has just been discharged from the hospital, and covers the entire bill.
·
At the convalescent home, Ju Xiaoshan knits his brows and stares into He Yu's eyes. "After Brother Yu suddenly disappeared from Sheyuan, my family was driven out of our ancestral home. My parents had to leave for distant places to make a living. Thanks to him, my family was torn apart for good."
"He Yu isn't exactly an uncommon name," Mr. He says with a shrug. "I'm sorry, but you've got the wrong person."
"Is that so? Then who do you think this 'benefactor' is? What idiot would bet on a poor student like me?"
"Xiaoshan, value is determined by the buyer. That's the secret to making money in business." Mr. He nudges his gold-rimmed glasses, his gaze unreadable. "At least in this idiot's eyes, you're absolutely special."
"But an investment is always kindness on the surface and a debt underneath. I imagine sooner or later, he'll come to collect his return."
·
The Ju ancestral home is a circular earthen building.
Enter through the main gate and go up to the fourth floor. In the room located 35 degrees southeast, a young man from outside the family once lived.
Before he disappeared, that man had promised the boy that he would become his benefactor and take him away.
