Of all the villains in the original Harry Potter series, Barty Crouch Jr. is the one whose fate I find hardest to accept. After completing his task in the fourth book, he was abruptly killed off by the plot. It couldn't be helped: if he had remained in the story later on, it would have made writing the protagonists' victory over Voldemort exponentially more difficult.
But what if the story had unfolded normally? In this story, after Voldemort's resurrection, Barty Crouch Jr. returns to his master's side, and the Death Eaters also complete a mass breakout from prison.
Theme: Barty Crouch Jr. completes his task at the Triwizard Tournament as the story would normally unfold, then returns to his master's side.
