My Childhood Friend Has Been Acting Strange Lately

Zhou Zhao has been feeling that something is strange lately.

Though his childhood friend had fallen on hard times, the two of them had grown up together. So when his friend went off to join the entertainment industry and gave up a high-paying job, Zhou Zhao couldn't stop thinking about it.

But that childhood friend of his, a good-for-nothing, rebellious rival, had suddenly become... especially strange?

They hadn't seen each other in a long time when they ran into one another at a charity gala.

His childhood friend was surrounded by a crowd. Zhou Zhao had just started to greet him when his friend charged straight through the crowd, threw his arms around him, and burst into tears.

"My husband... Sob, I've missed you so much."

"I can't believe I get to see you again. Sob."

The whole room stared.

And lately, he's been acting strange in other ways, too.

He's quit the entertainment industry and drops by Zhou Zhao's house every few days. He's become incredibly well-behaved, and even listens to what Zhou Zhao says.

He even claims that they were married in ancient times in a previous life, despite bringing along a jar of the protagonist's favorite peach blossom wine every single time.

Ridiculous. How can two men be husband and wife?

*From the bottom's perspective:

My husband is the greatest general in the land.

He secretly pledged himself to me, never looked down on us for both being men, and promised we'd be together for a lifetime, just the two of us. He said he'd marry me when he returned victorious.

He lied to me.

I waited for him to return to the capital, but all that came back was an urn of ashes.
