Xia Zhi is a huge Ace fan. Even thirteen years after Ace died in battle, she still can't get over it.
One night, she came across a strange notification:
"Tap here to help Ace win the comeback-from-the-dead match."
Thinking it was some fellow fan's virtual memorial, she clicked without a second thought and downloaded a training app called Ace Resurrection Project.
The game screen was bare. There was only a tiny Ace lying motionless, with "HP = 0.01%" floating above his head.
Xia Zhi cursed under her breath. "...Which heartless monster made this hellish game?!"
But seeing the pixelated figure who looked just like Ace, dying inside her phone, with a gaping hole in his chest and a health bar almost at zero, she couldn't just stand by!
So she gritted her teeth and completed the first task. The pixelated Ace on the screen opened his eyes
"Damn it! It's just another pay-to-win training game, isn't it?!" Xia Zhi's eyes instantly filled with tears. "Do you think I'm short on money? What I'm short on is a living, breathing Ace!"
From then on, Xia Zhi became hopelessly addicted to the game. Even when people mocked her for being in love with a fictional character, she did things her own way.
Only in the dead of night, when no one could see, would Xia Zhi hold the 100%-real Ace and giggle
"Who says fictional crushes never work out? I spent real money to pull my boyfriend out of the fictional world!"
[Content warnings and reading guide]
1. The female lead is an obsessive Ace fan and sometimes acts like an idiot.
2. The author's style swings between melodramatic prose and comedy, and may suddenly veer into cheesy pick-up lines or over-the-top, chuunibyou dialogue.
3. This is a classic "resurrect the dead first love" story, but with the added element of a fictional crush becoming real. Overall, the plot and premise are old-fashioned and full of familiar tropes. If that's not your thing, just click the X in the top-right corner.
At its heart, this is a healing story the author wrote for a heartache she's carried for more than a decade, pouring a lethal dose of love onto the sun! If anyone seems out of character, blame it on a parallel universe (drops to her knees).
Theme: Love is a magnificent miracle.
