Xia Kui is a die-hard Ace fan. Even thirteen years after Ace's death, she still can't accept it.
One late night, she came across a bizarre recommendation:
"Click here to help Ace win the resurrection match"
Thinking it was some fellow fan's digital memorial, she clicked it without a second thought and downloaded a virtual pet app called Ace Resurrection Project.
The game's interface was bare. There was only a little Ace lying motionless, with "HP = 0.01%" floating above his head.
Xia Kui cursed under her breath. "...What kind of heartless monster made this hellish game?!"
But looking at the pixelated figure resembling Ace, barely clinging to life in her phone, with a horrifying hole in his chest and a health bar that's almost empty, she couldn't just stand by!
So she gritted her teeth and completed the first mission. The pixelated Ace on the screen opened his eyes...
"Damn! Isn't this just another pay-to-win pet game?!" Xia Kui's eyes instantly reddened. "Do you think I'm short on money? What I'm short on is a living Ace!"
From then on, Xia Kui became hopelessly addicted to the game. Even when people mocked her for being in love with a fictional character, she did whatever she wanted.
Only in the dead of night, when no one could see, did Xia Kui hug the 100%-realistic Ace and grin like an idiot...
"Who says loving a fictional character can't work out? I got my boyfriend from the 2D world by paying real money!"
[Reader Advisory]
1. The female lead is a die-hard Ace fan, and her actions may occasionally make her seem a little dimwitted.
2. The author's style swings between melodramatic prose and goofy comedy, and may suddenly break into cheesy pick-up lines or chuuni dialogue.
3. This follows the classic "resurrecting a beloved character" template, with the added element of a fictional crush becoming real. Overall, the plot and premise are old and clichéd. If that's not your thing, click the X in the upper-right corner.
At heart, this is a redemption story the author wrote to heal a decade-old regret, sending an overwhelming amount of love to the sun! Any out-of-character moments are the fault of a parallel universe (drops to knees).
