Poor and unlucky, but adored by everyone.
Poor and lacking ambition, yet the heirs of the powerful are all falling over themselves to love her.
In the cyberpunk era, megacorporations rule. Ordinary people live like dogs. If you want a normal life, you need either good parents or body modifications.
Li Pi was born unlucky.
At life’s great dividing line, the womb, she was already far behind.
She also suffers severe rejection reactions to every model of implanted prosthetic on the market, making her a defective citizen with an inborn genetic flaw.
Born an orphan with no family connections, she was robbed of her only chance to rise through the ranks by joining the military when her genetic illness disqualified her.
After a rough, humiliating withdrawal from military school, Li Pi married the wealthy heir she’d been seeing. He promised to hold a wedding for her once he returned from a classified mission.
She thought she had finally made it through the hard times and gotten lucky enough to star in a Cinderella-marries-into-wealth story.
Three months later, Li Pi received confirmation of her husband’s death.
And a child her dead husband had left behind.
His greedy, voracious relatives from the conglomerate divided up his entire inheritance.
Li Pi: “...”
So she had to raise her stepchild, work, and pursue another rich heir all at once, staying busy every day like an octopus.
In the end, the child called her a rigid, vicious, old-fashioned tyrant.
Her boss said she lacked ambition.
The rich heir said she only wanted his money and had no genuine feelings for him.
*
The unlucky pauper’s bland, uneventful life included, but was not limited to:
Pursuing a super-rich heir,
being threatened by his older brother: “You’re not good enough for him.” “Our family has no need for a defective gene like yours.” “How much would it take for you to leave him voluntarily?”
Then ending things in humiliation.
Pursuing another rich heir and marrying him,
only for her husband to die on a secret mission not long after the wedding,
and leave her with a child!?
Suing her dead husband’s relatives, only to get nothing from the inheritance,
becoming a destitute widow with a child, barely better off than begging on the street.
Her dead husband came back to life.
And all the romantic debts she’d incurred came knocking at her door...
They all wanted to spend their lives with Li Pi, just the two of them, but all Li Pi wanted was the money in their pockets.

Poor, miserable, universally adored unlucky woman with negative luck, a fake innocent flower and a genuinely ruthless schemer x all kinds of powerful heirs
[Reading Guide]
1. The female lead has been unlucky for so long that most of the time she gives off a faint, exhausted, libido-killing vibe. She often pretends to be a weak, harmless innocent flower, playing the fool to catch the tiger, bending when needed and fighting back when she can. She’s a beautiful, strong, tragic heroine adored by everyone.
I can only guarantee that the male leads are sexually inexperienced. If you have requirements about the female lead’s body, mind, or morals, please skip this. She is not a good person by traditional standards (probably somewhere between chaotic neutral and lawful evil).
2. Cyberpunk setting. Keywords: megacorporations, authoritarianism, supernatural abilities, gangs, resistance organizations, awakening AI, human body modifications... (Some elements are inspired by Cyberpunk 2077, Alita, and a few episodes of Love, Death & Robots.)
But at heart, this is a melodramatic, everyone-loves-her Mary Sue story.
3. The child is not the dead husband’s biological child. The husband isn’t actually dead, but it doesn’t matter, because new men will keep throwing themselves at her.
Everyone is a villain. There should be a battle of men for her affections.
4. This is neither a sweet romance nor a wish-fulfillment story. There are times when things get miserable and frustrating, so please skip it if that bothers you.
5. Finally, cheating a capitalist out of money doesn’t count as cheating. The female lead is doing the people a favor! (Though she fails at it.)
Theme: She struggles for every scrap, she is insatiable, she has nothing, and she never gives up.
