Xiao Xingyan grew up wealthy in the modern world and was twenty-two, on the verge of graduating, when she got into one last “fight” before graduation. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in a drafty house with a broken family.
From the start, things had gone spectacularly wrong. Xiao Xingyan wished she could just close her eyes and die all over again.
She went to work at a nearby kiln.
After all, she was an outstanding soon-to-be graduate of Jingdezhen University’s ceramics program. She had studied modern ceramic materials engineering, so all she had to do was throw pots, formulate glazes, and improve kilns.
But how did a job at the kiln end up bringing her to the imperial court?
Xiao Xingyan: Me, become an official?
Xiao Xingyan threw herself into the work with even greater enthusiasm. From tricolor ware depicting a vast landscape, to red-glazed imperial robes and insignia, to ceramic underground water pipes and clay-cased thunder bombs, she rose from the daughter of a disgraced official to a pillar of the court, and then to a woman granted the title of duke.
…
In the Chuigong era, pottery, green-glazed ware, celadon…
Piece by piece, they left Fuliang County, and piece by piece, they flooded into the Divine Capital.
Xiao Xingyan rose to the highest ranks of the court despite all the doubts cast against her.
A student once asked her, “Teacher, why do you keep moving forward under so much pressure?”
Xiao Xingyan blinked. “So that when you ask me this question, I can tell you a sweeping, dramatic story?”
Then she grew serious. “I’m joking. I just want to see with my own eyes…the prosperous age I haven’t seen for so long.”
P.S. This story is inspired by the Wu Zhou era, and the protagonist gets a bit of a satisfying power trip. Because the protagonist transmigrates, some plotlines are fictional parallel-history scenarios. Please don’t match them against real history. Just enjoy the story. I’m having fun writing it, too.
Theme: Carry on the spirit of craftsmanship and preserve intangible cultural heritage!
After saving for a long time, I caught up with it again. It looks good [cat head] [cat head] [cat head] I hope Xiao Xiao's career goes well and he gets promoted step by step.
