Yu Ning transmigrates into a book and becomes a cannon-fodder minor villain in a period novel, a stumbling block for the male and female leads. She's pretty and vicious, arrogant and domineering, and exceptionally good at getting herself killed.
But Yu Ning doesn't get herself killed. She just acts spoiled.
In the original story, the male lead, Qin Feng, is tall and long-legged, with broad shoulders, a slim waist, and a cold, commanding presence. He's walking, talking sex appeal. Yu Ning is attracted to his looks and tries to drug him, but fails and gets beaten instead. Her reputation is ruined, and she meets a miserable end.
As a cannon-fodder character, Yu Ning knows her place. If she can't afford to provoke someone, she can avoid them. She has no parents and is all alone, and even getting enough to eat is a problem. The rice jar at home is nearly empty.
But farming in a period novel is no job for a human being. Yu Ning cries as she works.
Everyone notices that Yu Ning, who used to follow Qin Feng around everywhere, has changed. She's become hardworking, stopped shamelessly throwing herself at him, and is even trying to match him with other women!
The sky must be raining red.
One day, a bystander who loves to stir things up teases her: "Yu Ning, you really don't like that Qin kid anymore?"
Yu Ning replies, "What's a man compared to making money? Besides, what's not to love about a soft, sweet-smelling girl?"
Everyone smacks their lips. Wow! That kid changes her tune fast.
Nobody notices the man standing at the Yu family's gate. His face is dark, his whole aura chilling and terrifying. He turns and walks away without a backward glance.
But Yu Ning spots him right away. Oh no!
Before long, Qin Feng corners Yu Ning in her room and pins her in his arms, kissing her. The tall man's gaze is dark and feverish. Usually, the slightest thing is enough to make the delicate, spoiled Yu Ning bristle, but now she's breathing unevenly, her eyes are damp, and she's powerless to resist as he has his way with her.
