I've Been a Palace Eunuch for Years

Shen Chong, the Chief Eunuch of the Directorate of Ceremonial, is the Ninth Thousand-Year-Old, The Outcast and second to none but the emperor. He is courteous and humble, ever at the emperor's side. Long stationed in the inner court, he devotes himself to his duties until his dying breath.

Yet everyone knows he wields immense power, and that his warm smiles merely conceal his ruthless methods.

He is a lowborn eunuch, yet also the emperor's childhood companion. Before anyone realizes it, power in the Lu Dynasty has shifted into his hands.

He is a ruthless traitor, yet he stirs up storms with the sole aim of serving the nation and its people, setting off a wave of reform from the top down.

It seems only a matter of time before his ambition lets him steal the throne, yet no one can curb his power.

Countless people admire him, countless people fear him, and countless people hate him.

And the young general Gan Weizhen, nominally his adopted son, loves him with all his heart, forsaking everything else.

On a night when flames filled the sky, Gan Weizhen stood firm with spear in hand, defending the city gate that belonged to Shen Chong.
