[Brothers at odds, female sentinel x male guide BG]
Li Huanxing's guide died. She had amnesia, and then she was told she was in debt for a huge sum. When she found out, she burst into tears at his funeral.
Fortunately, her guide had quite a remarkable background.
He was the Federation's supreme military commander, the eldest son of the wealthiest family, and the legal spouse of a 3S-rank guide with a level of mental power found only in legends.
She hung his photo around her neck and went to claim the inheritance, only to learn
that she and her "late husband" had never registered their marriage.
After the news became public, public opinion about Li Huanxing changed dramatically. Everyone accused her of faking amnesia and coveting his fortune, even plotting to murder her guide.
With no memories and no way to defend herself, Li Huanxing had no choice but to retreat to the Tower to earn a living and search for memories of her late husband.
Until one day, during a mission, she was matched with a guide for a mental stabilization session.
The moment their mindscapes opened, a familiar presence washed over her.
Mental tentacles wrapped around her waist and slowly probed deep into her mindscape.
A whisper sounded in her ear: "Wearing my photo, sister-in-law. Were you thinking about me?"
His face was exactly the same as the man in the photo.
It turned out her guide had a twin brother.
His voice brimmed with accusation and hurt. "I've always been your husband. I may still have to call you sister-in-law in public, but we don't have to hide from my brother anymore.
Li Huanxing: ? That's not necessarily a problem. In that case, about the debt...
Then, while she was on the verge of death from a berserk episode, another familiar spirit appeared in her mindscape.
Her dead guide had been inside her mindscape all along.
He smiled gently, but made Li Huanxing shudder. His mental tentacles tightened around her chin.
"Wife, have you let anyone else stabilize you lately?"
Outside, someone attacked her mental barrier without a hint of urgency. "Baby, open your mindscape. I'm not my brother."
Li Huanxing: ??... What on earth is real?!
