A Detective Emerges from the Antiquities Shop

In her previous life, Yi Jiu's family ran a full-service funeral business. On graduation day, she pointed at the sky and swore, "I'd rather die than work in the funeral industry in this life!"

Heaven immediately took her at her word.

She opened her eyes and found she had transmigrated, with a family business: Yi's Funeral Garment Shop, passed down through four generations.

With burial clothes in one hand and paper figures and horses in the other, Yi Jiu took the time it takes an incense stick to burn to come to terms with it.

Little did she know that while dressing a dead person in burial clothes, all she had to do was touch their head to hear a faint voice: "I was wronged! My death was so unjust!"

A corpse coming back to life? A haunting? A case solved!

Then came the second corpse, the third, the fourth...

Whenever she encountered someone who had died violently or unjustly, their words poured into her mind.

Sometimes she heard a name, sometimes a place...

Later, all she had to do was squat by the door, chewing on a bun, and someone would carry a body wrapped in a straw mat into the shop.

"Detective Yi, please help my daughter. Who killed her?"

"Don't worry. I'll go listen right now."

Everyone in the city knew a detective had emerged from Yi's Funeral Garment Shop.

After all, the dead never lie. It's just that the living can't understand them.

But solving cases was one thing. Yi's had to grow into a bigger and better business, too.

Yi's Funeral Services: Sincere service, all in one place.

On every street corner, people were saying,

"Have you heard? The new magistrate went to the Yi family to ask for Yi Jiu's hand."

"What's the magistrate compared to the young marquis from the capital? I heard he's taken a fancy to Yi Jiu."

A chill ran down Yi Jiu's back. She turned around and saw a jealous face gazing at her mournfully.

Yi Jiu jumped and declared righteously, "I'm only here to clear the dead of injustice. Romance is out of the question!"
