[Irregular Updates] [Short Story, Around 100,000 Words]
This is a true Hong Kong-style story.
On a rainy night as a typhoon approached, the student protagonist met her future love beside an orange trash can.
The cool, handsome biker girl carried takeout from Jangari and worried hazily about her deadlines. The pretty, devoted husband type carried a big bag of ParknShop groceries, thinking he really ought to get a Yuu membership.
After waiting half an hour, they finally boarded a village bus that went wild and reckless as soon as it accelerated.
When the girl tapped her Octopus card, her balance was negative, but she didn't dare get distracted by her miserable finances. The guy really wanted her contact information, but he didn't dare get distracted either, waiting only to call out, "Stop here, please."
Luckily, they got off at the same stop. The wind howled and rain lashed down with the force of a roaring sea.
The mainland-made folding umbrella the guy had brought was turned inside out by the wind. At last, he called out to the girl: "Excuse me, where did you buy your umbrella?"
The girl glanced down at the long-handled, extra-large umbrella she'd spent a fortune on (159 HKD): "7-Eleven."
That was how they started talking, and ended up sharing the same umbrella.
Girl: "It's so late. You're still going shopping?"
Guy: "My coupons expire tomorrow. It's so late. You haven't eaten yet?"
Girl: "I just finished a group meeting."
Then they discovered they were both from the same hometown, lived in the same tenement building, and studied in the same year at the same school.
Just before they each returned to their respective mouse holes, the guy worked up his courage: "Can I add you as a friend?"
The girl turned him down: "The palace forbids consorts from pairing off."
The guy didn't give up. "I can cook."
The girl paused. "But now that you mention it..."

The two broke students led quiet lives on Hong Kong Island. After graduating, they returned to the mainland and finally fell into a normal relationship.
On their first day living together, they went out for hotpot to celebrate, then both came down with gastroenteritis.
At the hospital, a visitor from elsewhere asked in astonishment: "Even people from Sichuan and Chongqing can get gastroenteritis from spicy food?"
Protagonists: .
Don't ask. Their stomachs have been gaslit into thinking they can handle it.
