What does it feel like to have two world-ending starts in a row?
Reborn ten years in the past, Shang An wiped away a bitter tear. It was the misery of wanting to retire but having no choice but to scramble just to survive.
She rebuilt the Wasteland Garden. Pink roses once again climbed the walls, delicious fruits and vegetables filled the garden beds, and lush Baiye trees took root again in the wasteland.
She opened her StarNet livestream earnings and could once again enjoy the good life with the System.
But somehow, it felt like something was missing.
The vegetable garden seemed to be missing an automatic sprinkler. The flower garden seemed to be missing a robot to help catch pests. Even the Baiye trees looked wrong somehow. Why weren't there signs marking their ages?
The image of someone who used to spend all their time in the courtyard, scribbling on paper and calculating figures, surfaced in her mind.
She looked at the F-rank Sentinel badge on her uniform, then thought of the other person's SSS-rank Guide status.
She absolutely wasn't planning to ruin the life of a top-tier mechanic again, but without those handy robots, she'd work herself to death!
So, making friends a little early and borrowing some useful machines wasn't asking too much, right?

Pei Xuecheng's life was monotonous.
His classmates invited him to play a virtual reality game together. He was researching pollution control. His friends invited him to sing karaoke at a nightclub. He was researching pollution control. His family arranged a blind date for him. He was still researching pollution control.
His close friend was at their wit's end. "You wooden-headed fool! How did a face like that and an SSS-rank Guide end up stuck on such a blockhead? Aaaaah!"
Pei Xuecheng looked around. "Huh? Where in the Empire has a tree become a spirit? Can it control pollution?"
Until he saw the Wasteland Garden livestream on StarNet.
His friends all said, "It has to be fake. They made it with virtual reality tech for publicity, right? Only an idiot would believe it. Pei Xuecheng, don't go!"
Pei Xuecheng: "Huh? It's real! I'm already at the entrance to the Wasteland Garden."
Pei Xuecheng had an excellent memory.
He was certain he didn't know the cheerful young Sentinel standing in front of him.
But she knew much more about pollution control than he did. She could even smile as she handed him the things he needed and encouraged him to keep researching.
After she once again laid out a table full of food tailored to his tastes, Pei Xuecheng couldn't help anonymously posting on StarNet about the strange things that had been happening to him lately.
Sure enough, the netizens thought the same thing he did!
She definitely liked him!
He ignored his friends' warnings and happily put away his StarNet device, then went back to helping Shang An build machines.
Later, Pei Xuecheng learned that Shang An had refused the Empire's proposal to marry a member of the imperial family in order to win over key talent, and had agreed to share her pollution-control findings with the institute so they could be made available to the public.
He was stunned.

Reader's Guide:
1. Spirit entities and the White Tower exist, but the Sentinel and Guide settings are mostly my own inventions and differ quite a bit from the explanations you'll find online. They're mainly here to serve the plot and will be revealed as it progresses.
2. The male and female leads have ordinary human bodies, the same as men and women on Blue Star.
3. The female lead's rank will rise.
4. Neither lead is perfect.
