Formerly titled: The Springtime of an Old Friend
Chun Xu had no past. Even her name was given to her later by her master.
She asked him, "Why Chun Xu?"
Her master stroked her head and said, "Spring is beautiful. It is the beginning of everything."
And so she was named Chun Xu and became the youngest disciple of the head of Jin Yue Mountain.
Later, she would often wake from nightmares, tormented by inner demons day and night, though she didn't know why.
She clearly couldn't remember a thing.
When she asked her master, he said, "If you've forgotten the dust of the past, then don't think about it or dwell on it."
So she stopped asking about her past and sealed herself away in a forbidden area to cultivate.
A hundred years later.
When Chun Xu emerged from seclusion, spring had arrived. All things had revived, and plants were putting out new shoots.
It was just like the day she had joined Jin Yue Mountain.
Once again, she went to see her master alone.
After leaving her master's hall, Chun Xu went to the library. Three days later, she went to see her second senior brother.
Qin Tingye was playing Go with A Tuo. When he saw Chun Xu, he stood up in delight. "A Xu, you're out of seclusion!"
Chun Xu nodded, then asked straight away, "Senior Brother Qin, who is the best-looking man in Wanning?"
Qin Tingye never would have expected the most heartless and wooden little junior sister at Jin Yue Mountain to ask such a question.
He didn't understand, but he answered honestly.
"Xiang Yan, the young master of the Hehuan Sect."
.
Everyone at Jin Yue Mountain knew they had a junior sister who had spent a hundred years cultivating in a forbidden area, practicing the Heartless Dao as a spear cultivator.
Later, they heard that on the very day she emerged from seclusion, she'd gone straight to the library. Everyone sighed, saying their junior sister was truly diligent.
They never expected that three days later, she would descend the mountain and forcibly abduct the young master of the Hehuan Sect.
.
The night before, Xiang Yan had been drinking with someone. He woke with a hangover, pulled on his clothes, and stepped out of his bedchamber, only to have his spiritual power sealed and be carried off.
With nothing better to do, he didn't resist. And so he ended up locked away in a house.
He'd assumed his captor wanted something from him, but this junior sister from Jin Yue Mountain simply sat across from him every day, staring at him in a daze.
After a month of being stared at, he finally couldn't take it anymore. He tossed down the piece he'd been holding and asked, "What exactly are you trying to do?"
"Look at you."
"Why?"
"Master said I should have human desires." Chun Xu answered honestly. "The book says that the most beautiful appearance can awaken desire in people."
"That's not human desire. That's lust. You've been misled by a book."
Chun Xu said earnestly, "The books in the library can't be wrong."
Xiang Yan leaned back and asked her, "What's the book called?"
"Spring Love."
Xiang Yan paused. Looking at the utterly serious Chun Xu sitting across from him, he suddenly smiled. "Right. The books in the library can't be wrong. That's human desire."
Of course. How could his wife's book be wrong?
